Morton Cooper, Ph.D
Dr. Morton Cooper: UCLA, Ph.D., Former Director of Voice and Speech Pathology, Outpatient Clinic, and Clinical Assistant Professor, Head and Neck Surgery Division, UCLA Center for the Health Sciences.
Dr. Cooper is a licensed Speech Pathologist in California and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). He received a certification of appreciation from ASHA that reads, "in recognition of a significant contribution to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and to the profession of speech pathology and audiology." He has been the Director of the Voice and Speech Clinic at UCLA Medical Center and a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Head and Neck Division at UCLA Medical Center. He was Director of the Adult Stutterers Group at Stanford University.
He has been a consultant and regular speaker at the Pritikin Longevity Center. He has written regular columns for publications, as well as chapters in several leading speech pathology handbooks. His textbook, Modern Techniques of Vocal Rehabilitation has been used for the past twenty-three years as a college text throughout the world.
Interviews with Dr. Cooper regarding his techniques have been published in USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, US Magazine, Mademoiselle Magazine, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.
His studies and papers have been published in the Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, Archives of Otolaryngology, California Medicine, Medical Tribune, Pediatric News, Journal of Fluency Disorders, Voices: The Art and Science of Psychotherapy, and many others. (see bibliography)
He has traveled extensively, speaking at many colleges and universities; he has been a speaker at numerous medical facilities including Cedars--Sinai Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, St. John's Hospital, White Memorial Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Hospital and Kaiser-Permanente Hospital, and at many medical groups, including the Los Angeles Neurological Society, the Los Angeles Society of Otolaryngology, and the Ross-Loos Medical Group.
Dr. Cooper received a bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College, a master's degree from Indiana University, a doctorate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and also studied at Stanford University.
His book Change Your Voice, Change Your Life, is now in its 18th printing. Other books by Dr. Cooper include Winning With Your Voice, and Stop Committing Voice Suicide.
