Dear Dr. Cooper:
I would like to begin be expressing my gratitude to you for what you have done to change my life. It has been about a year now since I visited your office for two weeks and since that time I continue to recover from what is known as Spasmodic Dysphonia. I have progressed from barely able to put a full sentence together to my present capability of speaking normally most of the time, even on the phone. I say that because the phone has been the worst for me, at times I could barely squeeze more than a word or two our and had to discontinue my conversation. I am now President of our local Rotary club, and although my voice is not as strong as it should be, I am able to lead our meetings on a weekly basis.
Although I am not 100% as of this date, by utilizing your methods diligently, it now appears like a full recover is evident. I will admit having one botox shot after my two week session with you about a year ago, but have not returned for this treatment as it was only temporary relief that severely masked the real problem and I was unable to use my voice at all for two weeks after the shot.
You were right when you said that your methods will work, but it was up to me to do the work. The work is hard, discouraging, humbling and it can take a long time. For me the recovery is a multi-year task, others may be able to do it much quicker. I believe the length of recover it is a function of how damaged your vocal cords are. I would like to encourage all of your patients and other botox users out there in the world to consider utilizing your therapy because it works and it is the best alternative.
Loosing your ability of speaking ranks right up there with other serious illnesses, it basically takes your life away. Fortunately for me, I’ve had a very encouraging spouse, friends that I have met through your office with similar problems, and a God that has helped me get through this very difficult period.
Morty, I hope that our paths cross again someday; not on a Dr. patient relationship, but as friends just talking. Thanks again.
