Hi Dr. Cooper,
I want to sincerely thank you for helping me recover from Spasmodic Dysphonia.
I first became aware of a problem with my voice about 8 or 9 years ago. Speaking was very difficult for me. Hardly anyone could understand me. Speaking on the telephone was an impossible chore.
I decided to consult with a physician who referred me to an eye, ear and throat specialist. The specialist could not find nay problems with my vocal cords. I was then referred to a neurologist who diagnosed Parkinson’s disease and prescribed L-dope. I refused to take the medication.
Several years later I sought help with the Montclair State University speech therapy program. After nearly one year of therapy my voice stayed the same. I decided that I would just have to live with the speech problem.
About 6 months ago a second neurologist performed an MRI brain scan and could not find any problem.
Fortunately, a chance conversation with Michael B., and a referral to your office has set me on a path, that I am confident, will help me overcome my voice problem. Using the “Direct Voice Rehabilitation” that you pioneered, my voice has improved tremendously.
Thanks again for your help. I fell like I have a new lease on life.
